1.9- A Reception to Remember

Adam and Dina’s wedding had gone perfectly to plan. Their vows were extremely romantic and their first kiss was magical. The guest list may have been small (and included Don Lothario), but it was what the two of them had wanted. Nothing big, just an intimate wedding with the people closest to them… and Don.

After the ceremony, Adam invited the guests to join them at the private bar for a few drinks and to watch them cut the wedding cake. He was sure that the reception would be just as successful as the ceremony was.

Dina did the honours of cutting the cake and picked up the first slice before making her way over to Adam. They each took a forkful of the homemade wedding cake and fed it to each other. Dina was impressed with how the cake tasted and even more impressed with the fact that her new husband was the one who made it.

Adam looked at her with a big smile on his face. He couldn’t believe he had married the woman of his dreams. Not even ‘Donny boy’ could ruin this perfect day, he thought to himself as he spotted Katrina grabbing Don’s behind in the background.

Adam was wrong. The group had made their way over to the bar and, after a few fruity drinks, Don was getting a little flirty with Dina. “Hey babe, you’re holding that dress up well,” he winked at her, causing Adam’s blood to boil. Katrina pretended not to notice, but it was pretty obvious that both she and Nina were getting jealous. “I think you need to lay off the Cupid Juice, Don.” Dina turned to the bartender. “No more for this one,” she nodded in Don’s direction and the bartender agreed. “Aw, come on,” Don continued. “Isn’t this meant to be a party? Let your hair down, babe!” Dina shook her head before standing and walking away. Adam took this opportunity to sit down at the bar.

“Hey man! Wassup?” Don slurred his words as Adam turned to him, furious. “Listen here, Don. You may have gotten away with treating Dina like an object when she lived with you, but let me tell you something right now.” Adam pointed in Dina’s direction. “Dina is an amazing girl and deserves all the respect in the world. She is my wife now and if I ever catch you talking to her like that again or even looking at her like she’s a piece of meat, I will make you regret it. Do we understand each other?”

Don stared at Adam with a look of disbelief before getting up and turning his attention to Nina. Adam was starting to shake. He wasn’t sure how he would make Don regret it, but he hoped his confrontation with him would scare him enough to leave Dina alone.

When the reception was over and the guests had stumbled home, Adam and Dina finally had some time to themselves. They spent some time cleaning up around the park before sharing some more intimate moments. By the time they had finished, the sun was coming up and the morning joggers had begun their routines, giving them strange looks as they passed by.

The newlyweds headed home for a bit more privacy.

A few days had passed and Adam and Dina were really enjoying married life. They had shared a few laughs when Dina found out about Adam’s confrontation with Don. But the most exciting part was yet to come.

Dina emerged from the bathroom, her eyes wide and a big smile on her face. “Adam, guess what!?” Before he had a chance to respond, she blurted it out. “We’re pregnant! We’re having a baby!”

Adam couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “A baby,” he repeated, slowly. “Dina, that’s fantastic!”

He jumped up out of his seat as Dina ran to his side. “I can’t believe it! This is so exciting!” She wrapped her arms around Adam’s waist as he pulled her closer. “Soon, we will be a real family.”

Adam looked at her. “We are a real family. Now we have another Sim to share our love with.” He knelt down so he was eye level with her belly. “And we cannot wait to meet you, little one.”
